training at last year's CPR Saturday

What: Our 19th Annual CPR Saturday - Free Adult CPR certification for participants who successfully complete the training also featuring a Children's Learning Area (ages 5 to 11).
When: Saturday, March 13, 2010. Sessions begin at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your desired session start time.

Where: Golden Hall at the San Diego Concourse, 202 C Street at B Street and 3rd Avenue

There is no advance registration required for this event! Simply come to the class you intend to take and registration will take place then (arriving half an hour early is strongly recommended).

This year’s CPR Saturday program will include:

Free Adult CPR training and certification for all ages
Safety training, fun and games for children ages 5 to 11
An American Red Cross blood drive

About the Children's Area: This event will include training sessions for children ages 5-11. Children can participate in Basic Aid Training (basic first aid & safety information) and Whales Tales (how to be safe in, on and around the water).
Please note:

Wear comfortable clothing
Children ages 5-11 can participate in the Children's Area while their parents are being trained. Otherwise, childcare is not provided.
No cost for training, but donations are accepted
Blood Drive on-site
Check in at least 30 minutes prior to session
Each session is about 3-1/2 hours long
Easily accessible by mass transit
Limited reduced rate parking available

H1N1 Vaccination Clinics

Saturday, November 21

at Oak Valley Middle School

This coming Saturday, the Poway Unified School District in Partnership with the San Diego County Health and Human ServicesAgency, Palomar/Pomerado Hospital and the City of Poway, will offer four H1N1 vaccination clinics for Poway Unified students and their siblings ages 6 months to 18 years of age and for pregnant women. These clinics will limit vaccinations to those priority groups as established by the National Center for Disease Control and the San Diego County Health Department.

On Monday, November 16th, parents of all Poway Unified District students will be notified via the District’s automated voice and email system of the clinics and to expect an informational flyer being sent home with students. Early in the week students will be given the informational flyer each with a pre-printed individualized consent form on the reverse. Parents must bring the pre-printed consent form to the clinics when they accompany their children.

The four clinics are schedule for Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, or until the allotted vaccines have all been administered. Vaccination will be provided to eligible participants free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. Clinic locations are :

Volunteer Opportunities

Saturday, Dec 12- we need 50 youth volunteers to honor our local military heroes

9am – 12pm: Assemble care packages and write Thank You cards at Red Cross HQ

1pm – 4pm: Distribute gifts and spread some cheer at Veterans Affairs hospital in La Jolla

2. Who needs Community Service Hours? Volunteer!

o Tuesday, Nov 24 from 6-8 PM at Feeding America (Off of Miramar Road): We will handing out food to low-income families so that they do not go hungry on Thanksgiving. There is room for only 8 Red Cross youth volunteers, so call or email me by Nov 17 to sign up!

o Saturday, Dec 5^h: North Park Toyland Parade –; 10 am – 12:30pm. We need 10 youth volunteers! Contact me by Dec 1 if you would like to march with the Red Cross float in this holiday parade.
