H1N1 Vaccination Clinics

at Oak Valley Middle School
This coming Saturday, the Poway Unified School District in Partnership with the San Diego County Health and Human ServicesAgency, Palomar/Pomerado Hospital and the City of Poway, will offer four H1N1 vaccination clinics for Poway Unified students and their siblings ages 6 months to 18 years of age and for pregnant women. These clinics will limit vaccinations to those priority groups as established by the National Center for Disease Control and the San Diego County Health Department.
On Monday, November 16th, parents of all Poway Unified District students will be notified via the District’s automated voice and email system of the clinics and to expect an informational flyer being sent home with students. Early in the week students will be given the informational flyer each with a pre-printed individualized consent form on the reverse. Parents must bring the pre-printed consent form to the clinics when they accompany their children.
The four clinics are schedule for Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, or until the allotted vaccines have all been administered. Vaccination will be provided to eligible participants free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. Clinic locations are :

Volunteer Opportunities
Saturday, Dec 12 - we need 50 youth volunteers to honor our local military heroes
9am – 12pm: Assemble care packages and write Thank You cards at Red Cross HQ
1pm – 4pm: Distribute gifts and spread some cheer at Veterans Affairs hospital in La Jolla

2. Who needs Community Service Hours? Volunteer!
o Tuesday, Nov 24 from 6-8 PM at Feeding America (Off of Miramar Road): We will handing out food to low-income families so that they do not go hungry on Thanksgiving. There is room for only 8 Red Cross youth volunteers, so call or email me by Nov 17 to sign up!
o Saturday, Dec 5h: North Park Toyland Parade –; 10 am – 12:30pm. We need 10 youth volunteers! Contact me by Dec 1 if you would like to march with the Red Cross float in this holiday parade.
